Colombian pop singer and songwriter, Juanes, will get to rumba in Havana, Cuba this Sunday, Sept. 20th at 2pm ET. The great news is that we can all enjoy this historical concert live on the web at www.yahoo-pazsinfronteras.com. On stage, Juanes will be joined by some talented latin musicians like Olga Tañón, Miguel Bosé and Víctor Manuel, among others.
Juanes has gotten a lot of heat in recent days, even death threats, for organizing this peace concert on Cuban soil. The singer stresses that Paz Sin Fronteras is not about politics but about "humanity...peace...love".
It's very brave for him to head to the island...and about time that someone had the pelotas to do it. No matter how you feel about Fidel/Raul Castro and their politics, the truth is that the Cuban people have paid a really high price because of political issues. If only for one day, Cubans won't be so isolated...and we, in the U.S., will be able to share the excitement on the web (thank goodness for technology). I'm also curious to see what the island looks like in 2009. Hopefully, this will be a step in the right direction where we can get to know one another. Listen, if we can do business in China...I think we can befriend the Cuban people.
What do you make of Juanes' concert in Havana?
