Kris Allen. Did Seacrest read that right? Are you serious? He's totally the underdog and 100 milllion voters crowned Allen the new American Idol. I thought for sure Adam Lambert was going to win. I have to say that I'm kind of glad Allen won. I think Lambert will have a career regardless. Lambert is SUPER talented!!! He also has a great fan base. Go Lambert and Allen!!!
How hilarious was Tatiana del Toro? I thought it was a skit they had planned...but then she kept singing over Seacrest, was escorted off by backstage folks and they even had to play the show's music theme over her. That girl is crazy! It was awkward but probably the most spontaneous and funny moment of the night. These 2 hours needed that. After all, we all know who's going to win...it's Adam Lambert all the way.
I grew up going to Yankees games but as a Queens girl, I'm allowed to root for both teams (I never quite understood why you have to pick one over the other). Yesterday, I was lucky to be at Citi Field, the Mets' new stadium, for the first time. It's such a nice stadium. I was up in the nosebleed section, but you can see everything clearly. Hey, for $20 bucks, my seat was better than I expected.
The truth is I can appreciate a good baseball game but only when I'm there to witness it myself. I can't see myself ever being glued to the YES Network or SNY for any game. I guess it's the whole experience that I love...the passionate, cheering fans...the hot dogs...the french fries (my weakness)...the 7th inning stretch and the excitement a "W" brings to the stadium. The Mets did not disappoint us. The final score was 3-4, in extra innings. Oh, and the bonus was the 1st streaker @ Citi Field that stole 2nd base (see video below). The stadium went wild for him. He might've been the Mets' lucky charm, after all they were losing 'til then. Good times.
Kris Allen and Adam Lambert are going to the finals. Are you surprised that Danny Gokey is gone as of tonight? I actually thought he would make it to the finals. His voice is beautiful. Anyway, I do know I won't be surprised when Lambert is finally crowned. He deserves it.
What did you think of The Fashion Show's premiere? I watched the reality show last Thursday and it was just okay. I thought they would add a twist to the show, some spice that we haven't seen yet, but the truth is that they haven't strayed too much from the Project Runway formula.
These reality shows rely on interesting characters, a.k.a. drama queens, to draw viewers in and The Fashion Show is no exception. The one character that stands out for me is the looney, but super talented guy, with the feather in his head. Where is Merlin going with his feathers, kilt, and poncho? He's so "Betty el feo", Ugly Betty, but he makes for good tv.
In any event, the only major draw to this Project-Runway-knock-off is Isaac Mizrahi. It's too much of a replica in my opinion. The only difference I see between the shows is that The Fashion Show's viewers will pick the winner. Not very original ...but maybe that's intentional after all. I will continue to watch for now because I'm a Mizrahi fan and...until the original runway is lit on Lifetime.
Check out Meredith Vieira's reaction at the end of this clip when Matt Lauer asks her what she thought of Paula Abdul's performance. It's pretty funny.
Just in case you missed this yesterday...here's the video of Bernie Madoff's Administrative Assistant speaking out. She worked for him for over 20 years and says she didn't suspect a thing. It's disturbing how he even "planned" his arrest. If he anticipated the arrest, then he definitely had time to get rid of evidence. My question is...why aren't they going after Ruth Madoff? She had to have known he was involved in funny business.
Oh no. Allison Iraheta was sent home tonight. I didn't see her performance last night...but judging from her singing today...I don't think she deserved to go home. She's a solid performer. I really thought she had a good chance to make it to the finals. It's an all boys club now.
Bravo is launching this week their Project Runway replacement, The Fashion Show. Contestants will compete for a cash prize of $125,000 and will sell their designs in the retail market. Judging from the promo, it doesn't look like it'll be that much different from the popular ex-Bravo show.
I will say this though...I'm looking forward to seeing Isaac Mizrahi on television. I saw him speak at a conference last year...and he was hilarious. He has a great sense of humor and understands a woman's body. If the producers of the show can figure out a way to let his personality shine through, I think viewers will be hooked. Will you watch on Thursday?
This was No Doubt's first performance in 5 years and I'm excited to see them together again. I used to LOVE the Tragic Kingdom album. Brings back memories of road trips and college days.
