Every time I see Jennifer Hudson on stage, my heart goes out to her. She makes me tear up. I admire that she's been able to pick herself up after all she's been through. I'm glad she finds comfort in performing..lucky us.

Lil Rounds sings Mary J. Blige's "Be Without You". Was this the last time the judges praised her?
We are down to seven contestants as they try to stay alive this week...here's how they did tonight:
1. Allison Iraheta --She's going to the finals. I think Allison is Adam Lambert's toughest competition. She is always consistent. What a talented 16-year-old. I can't get over how young she is! Simon said she's the only hope for the girls...that has to hurt Lil Rounds, who was the early favorite.
2. Anoop Desai --I like Anoop's voice and I think this was a great week for him. I think he'll be around next week...he deserves a slot.
3. Adam Lambert --This was not his best performance nor my favorite. I do like his energy on stage though and enjoy watching him have fun performing.
4. Matt Giraud --I agree with the judges that sometimes he's hot and other weeks he completely misses. I thought he was just okay this week. I love it though when he hits those really high notes.
5. Danny Gokey --Lionel Richie is a risky choice. I thought there were some rough spots in the beginning but overall, I thought he did a nice job. I like his voice a lot.
6. Kris Allen --It's funny 'cause all these weeks I was trying to figure out who Kris reminds me of...and it came to me tonight. Doesn't he look like Luis Fonsi? They share some good looks. Anyway, I have to agree with Randy...I didn't love the performance.
7. Lil Rounds --She's had a rough time in this competition. I think the judges have been really tough on her...much tougher than other contestants. I'm not sure if it's because the expectations were high from the beginning or what. She's super talented and has a hell of a voice. I'm glad she got a chance to respond to Simon's criticism. I was getting tired of seeing her defeated look week after week.
So who's packing their bags and going home tomorrow? It's a tough choice but I think it will be Lil Rounds and I don't think the judges will save her. Hopefully she has Jennifer Hudson's luck and totally blooms outside of the show. She has one powerful voice.

Paula Abdul said that Scott MacIntyre is an inspiration to all...and I couldn't agree more. He is super talented and there's a tenderness in his voice that touches many. He's just NOT pop...he's more sophisticated than that. All you have to do is check out this video to realize that he's on a different playing field. He's truly gifted. Hopefully American Idol will open up a ton of doors for him. I'm sure we'll see more of Scott in the future.

I don't know about you...but an Obama tattoo on your lip? I categorize that as over the top. What do you think?

So it's down to 8 contestants...
1. Danny Gokey --He didn't wow me tonight...I thought it was just okay. The judges loved him though...let's see what the viewers who actually vote think.
2. Kris Allen --I normally like him but I didn't love him tonight either. Simon said he was "forgettable" and I have to agree with him.
3. Lil Rounds --Singing Tina Turner is always risky but if anyone could pull it off is Lil. I thought she did a good job...the judges on the other hand were really tough on her.
4. Anoop Desai --He was just okay in my opinion...not great. I'm still cheering for Anoop though.
5. Scott MacIntyre --I think he's talented but tonight's performance was not great. Just my opinion.
6. Allison Iraheta --What a voice...whether she wins or loses this competition, she'll be just fine. Let's hope someone signs her up...
7. Matt Giraud --I really enjoyed his performance tonight! I loved the energy. So far, the best of the night.
8. Adam Lambert --I think he's the next American Idol. He's consistently good.
The best tonight? Without a doubt it was Matt Giraud. He had me dancing in my seat!
Who's going home this week? I think Scott MacIntyre will be packing his bags.

Ext. of Peking Duck Sandwich Stall in Flushing, Qns. GR for Girly Network
If you're a duck lover like me...you'll enjoy this Chinatown joint in Queens. It's not a Chinese restaurant...not even a take-out spot...it's simply a stand selling crispy duck mini-sandwiches for $1. What can be more recession-proof than that? They were sooo good, I had 3 of them for lunch. I bought a Snapple and spent a total of $4.50. How can you go wrong?
So whether you're in Qns or not (I think these are worth the trip from Manhattan --just ride the 7 train to the last stop)...these yummy duck pancake sandwiches are delish. I'm getting hungry just thinking about them.

I need to preface this by letting you know that Kim* and I are very good friends (12+ years). We are very honest with each other, even when no one else has the heart to tell you what they're thinking. She has no qualms to let me know that my hair looks a mess or to point out my shortcomings. She's the one friend who'll share with me the cut and dry truth, without sugar-coating it...and I do the same. I think every girly needs a friend like Kim*.
*Kim is not really my friend's name..she has asked me to protect her privacy. I think she's a little embarrassed.
In any event, here are the Behind the Scenes of our conversation yesterday:
Kim: I feel really blah today. I don't know if it's the rainy weather or what...but I don't feel...
Glo: ...pretty?
Kim: Yeah. I don't know what it
is.
Glo: It happens to everyone. When
I have an "ugly" day, I make sure to wear my favorite jeans (the ones
that make me look taller), a cute top, mascara, a little eyeshadow and lip
gloss. It helps. Why did you wear the oldest thing in your closet today? Try surrounding yourself with the things you
love...it may boost your spirit.
Kim: This is not the oldest
thing. These jeans are 2 years old.
Glo: Well, they remind me of my acid wash jeans. You never wear light jeans.
(We start cracking up.)
Kim: I can't believe you called my jeans "acid wash".
Two hours later I get the
following voicemail:
Kim: Don't talk to me. I can't believe you jinxed me. I was getting into my car...one leg inside the car, the other leg on the curb while I closed my umbrella. I bent down to get in the car and since my legs were spread out, my pants ripped in half.
(I have to admit, I couldn't stop laughing when I heard her message.)
See Kim...maybe they weren't meant to be worn on an "ugly" day...

...Megan Joy. It's crunch time and she has been consistently bad the last couple of weeks. I think she has a lot of potential...I really do! I would buy a soulful album by Joy...just not her bad rendition of Bob Marley. While I'm sad to see her go, I think she deserved to be eliminated. Good Luck Megan.
