Director talks about the behind-the-scenes of Sin Nombre
I finally went to see Sin Nombre this evening and I think my heart is still beating fast. I walked out of this movie feeling stressed out. I'm not kidding. My chest felt tight from all the suspense. Without giving too much away, this is a breathtaking flick about a girl who will risk everything, including her life, to cross the border and a gang member on the run. Warning: the gang scenes are pretty brutal.
The characters are well written and totally believable. I was blown away by the main actors, Paulina Gaitan and Edgar Flores. They are no-name actors but not for long. Gaitan and Flores will draw you in with their performances. They'll make you really care about the characters and their struggles. There's no novela acting here. Also, kudos to the director, Cary Fukunaga. I can't believe this is his directorial debut. Overall, this is a must-watch movie...one of the best I've seen all year.
Well,
Let me start by saying...I LOVED this movie. It kept my heart beating as well the entire time. I walked out of the theatre with shaky legs. Awesome plot, acting, and overall meaning of the movie. But what amazes me the most is how young the director is(and cute too). When I think about the context of the movie, the way it was shot, the character strength in the movie...I think of older directors with a more than a few movies under their belts. I HIGHLY reccommend this movie too!!! Just be prepared to deal with all the suspense!
